Kimi Räikkönen has lost his grandmother last week, according to reports in Finnish papers. Sirkka Pietilä was the mother of Kimi’s mother and she died at the age of 83. In the past she was sometimes seen in the paddock supporting Kimi in full Ferrari outfit.
Kimi was quoted saying that he hopes the media will let the family grieve in peace and their privacy will be respected.

In a sad coincidence Fernando Alonso’s 78-year-old grandmother, Maria Luisa Martinez Lopez died recently too: before the European Grand Prix in Valencia. She died after a long illness.

Sorry that I neglected this blog in the last two months. Now, I want to take it up where I left, so I start with some sweet pics about Corinna and Michael Schumacher (who are still my favourite F1 couple and you can see it on these pics why). These were made on their 14th wedding anniversary at the beginning of August, when Michael was preparing for his (since the failed) F1 comeback with a little karting. The pics were published by Bild.de today.
Still deeply in love
Forgetting everything around
Then a smile to the camera

Michael Schumacher offers his house in Vufflens-le-Chateau for sale. The seven times F1 World Champion moved to the nearby Gland not too long ago with his family, so he is now trying to get rid of their old house. The price he is offering it for is 8.7 million Swiss Franks, however because of the economical crisis he could not find a buyer yet. So he is also ready to rent it out for 29 000 Franks monthly.

There's reason to champagne
According to the Forbes magazine Kimi Räikkönen is the second richest sportsman int he World now. The Ferrari driver has an annual income of 32 million euro from Ferrari plus sponsors. He shares that second place with basketball stars Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. But they are nowhere near to the guy who is still the top earner: Tiger Woods’ annual income is 78 million euro.
Looking at Kimi’s performance in F1 since 2007 I have to say his managers must be really clever guys: it must be an art to get so much money for so little performance (sorry, Kimi fans).

Raquel and Fernando
A couple of weeks ago Fernando Alonso told journalists that he would go to this year’s Le Mans 24 hours race as a visitor, because he got interested in that form of racing (perhaps an alternative for him if F1 falls apart next year?). The famous race took place last weekend, but Fernando was nowhere to be found. He cancalled the visit citing „family reasons”.
According to fans the family reason is probably a minor operation that his wife, Raquel del Rosario went under. The singer of the Spanish pop group El Sueno de Morfeo announced on her official website that she calls off some of her concerts due to a minor health problem that had to be solved by operation. It’s nothing serious, the tour will go on soon.
